If you’ve watched the television series, Grey’s Anatomy, you know her voice, and her unique melodic patterns. Kate Havnevik’s music has been featured in many Grey’s episodes, and the tracks meld perfectly into the show, helping to build the drama and blend the story pieces together. Some even call Kate the “voice of Grey’s Anatomy,” as it seems that her music was written for the show, and has been featured on Grey’s Anatomy. Her music is amazing, inspiring, and dramatic, and is a must-have for any Grey’s fan.

Kate’s lyrics, though often dark, mysterious, and almost depressing, are beautiful, and meaningful. She manages to say a multitude of things with few words, complex melodies, and counter melodies weaving in and out of the background. The style, though mainly pop, is also classified as electronic. Havnevik uses synthesizers to create the unique instrumental sound and blend. Writing both the music and the lyrics herself, she produces songs that are stunningly emotional and pleasing to hear. Though Kate’s sound and style is very different from what people are used to listening to, it is easy to like, even love, her music. Her CD, “Melankton” is a fabulous addition to any music fan’s (especially a Grey’s Anatomy fan) collection. I highly recommend listening to Havnevik’s CD. You won’t regret it.
